🔥 REMINDER: OPEN BURNING BY-LAW 🔥

Did you know the County of Kings has an Open Burning and Smoke Control By-Law (By-Law #63) in place to help keep our community safe?

Here are a few key points to remember:

🚫 Burning of garbage, construction materials, or petroleum products is not permitted
🔥 Any approved burning must be done safely and in accordance with regulations
💲 Violations of the by-law can result in fines

Also remember—provincial burn restrictions are in effect during wildfire season, and you should always check daily burn conditions before lighting any fire. (https://novascotia.ca/burnsafe/)

Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe and prevent unwanted fires. 🚒

For full details, you can review By-Law #63 here:

Want to know more about road maintenance/plowing in the Municipality of the County of Kings?

You can report a pothole in a road owned by the Municipality online by visiting https://www.countyofkings.ca/residents/services/potholes

To report a pothole, select the name of the Municipally-owned road from the dropdown menu on the website and fill out the form that appears.
If the name of the road of interest does not appear, it may be provincially or privately owned. The Kings County Road and Sidewalk Maintenance App can tell you who owns a road and who is responsible for maintaining/plowing it. Give the App a try today here: https://ow.ly/V3UT50XY6Ik

To report a pothole in a provincially-owned road, call 511.

Prepare for Winter Conditions

tractor and snow nov 2025

To all residents of Greenwood and the surrounding area:

  • Before you venture out this winter, check your vehicle now and ensure it’s ready for the season.

  • On local roads and highways, allow extra travel time and reduce your speed when conditions are poor.

  • Be especially attentive when snow-clearing trucks are at work — give them space and allow them to do their job safely.

  • Stay informed about local weather and road condition updates, and adjust plans accordingly.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe this winter — preparation and patience go a long way.
